Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee (JFSM) is proud to announce a new initiative: AdultEd@JFed. The new adult education program is designed for adults who want to know more about their Jewish heritage, Jewish prayer, and all things Jewish.
“Our goal is both simple and profound: To be a source of meaningful Jewish education that engages adults in the two-county area to help build a strong and resilient Jewish community,” said Shep Englander, JFSM CEO.
The engaging and accessible classes are for adult learners of all backgrounds, regardless of affiliation, Jewish education, facility with Hebrew, level of observance, or previous participation in communal Jewish activities. Classes will provide an open-minded environment that encourages probing questions, serious discussions, and fosters a positive learning experience without denominational bias.
Under the direction of Rabbi Jennifer Singer, JFSM’s new Jewish Learning and Engagement Manager, the program will feature classes from the popular Florence Melton Adult School, as well as other curricular materials.
“It’s been years since we had a Melton program here, but people still remember it fondly and ask for it regularly,” said Rabbi Singer. “I am excited to begin teaching Melton again, and to offer the many new classes that Melton has created.”
Join Rabbi Singer for an open house on August 4, 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., in the Joy Moravitz Terrace Room at the Ora at the Morganroth Event Center, 578 McIntosh Road, Sarasota. The open house will feature a sample Melton class, taught by Rabbi Singer, called “In Search of Ways to Connect With God.” The open house and class are free, but you must register in advance at jfedsrq.org/events
