TEEN LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS

THE BOB MALKIN YOUNG AMBASSADOR AND
LEVENSON EXCHANGE AND ADVOCACY PROGRAM 

 

The Bob Malkin Young Ambassadors and Levenson Exchange and Advocacy Program is a two-year exchange program between Young Ambassadors (YAs) from Sarasota-Manatee and Tel Mond, our sister city in Israel. Students selected to participate in this highly subsidized program will develop unbreakable bonds, learn about each other’s cultures and learn how to be young ambassadors in their respective communities.

 

 

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS: YEAR ONE

  • Pre-mission leadership trainings
  • Cultural learning and exchanges with Tel Mond YA's.
  • Tel Mond YAs visit Sarasota-Manatee for one week (home hospitality with Sarasota-Manatee YA's) and travel together in Florida for an additional week.

 

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS: YEAR TWO

  • Leadership training
  • Heavily subsidized, all-inclusive mission to Israel
  • Trip preparation, including: lessons on Israeli history, culture, geography, demographics, advocacy, and personal connection to the land
  • Mifgash (visits with Israeli peers) and home stays with families in Tel Mond, Israel (Sarasota's Sister City)

 

WHO CAN APPLY?

Applications will be accepted every other year. Jewish students in grade 10, who have resided in Sarasota or Manatee county for at least one year are eligible to apply. Please see the "IMPORTANT DATES" module in the sidebar for up-to-date information, including application deadlines.

 

HOW TO APPLY?

Updated application guidelines will be added here just prior to the next application window, late summer, 2019. Please check back at that time.

 

*No student will be denied this opportunity due to a lack of financial resources. Such situations will be addressed by the Federation’s Financial Hardship Committee.
