Mending the Broken: Tikkun Olam meets Kintsugi Presented by Instructor/Artist Ellen Goldberg

January 24 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Wednesday, January 24, 1:00 p.m.

4631 S. Lockwood Ridge Road (enter only from Proctor Road), Sarasota, FL 34231
Temple Sinai’s two-part workshop presented by Artist Ellen Goldberg demonstrates Tikkun Olam, Hebrew for “repairing the world,” embodying Jewish traditions’ of repurposing old items, solving problems through design, and creating beauty. Kintsugi, the Japanese art of mending, shares a similar mission. Both align with mitzvot, particularly Hiddur Mitzvah, which beautifies ritual objects. Participants address throw-away culture by making collages from found materials and creating new, special ritual objects from broken items, incorporating Kintsugi principles. All skill levels welcome. Class size limit 15. $45/member or $54/non-member. To register, visit templesinai-sarasota.org.
