What is STEP?

Sally and Sam Shapiro shared a vision to work with The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee in creating a gateway for local Jewish teens to become engaged with their community, their Judaism and their connection to Israel. That vision has become a reality with the creation of STEP--the Shapiro Teen Engagement program.

From the busiest of students to those seeking an intense extracurricular activity, the STEP program will allow you to pick and choose your level of engagement. Programs are interactive and will examine the Palestinian/Israel conflict, explore ways to combat BDS; and will provide meetings with local philanthropists as well as opportunities to serve on Federation granting committees.  STEP Fellows will be given top priority for receiving Federation teen travel scholarships.
